This is such horse crap !!! It was a 2 minute penalty. Move on. Fining him is just the league listening to the Rags cry foul.

Amazing that the NHL has zero issues with Trouba head hunting in playoffs last year, but this is where they draw the line.

Totally agree. Great hit, but shouldn’t have even been 2 minutes. Total joke

The other thing that bothers me with the ruling by the NHL is this now sets him up as a potential repeat offender down the line. So if he has another incident like this the fines and suspensions become heavier. The NHL discipline across the league is horrible and inconsistent.

I said the same thing. Trouba's hits in the playoffs were FAR worse.

Lines remained same at #Isles morning skate
Parise-Barzal-Palmieri
Lee-Nelson-Beauvillier
Bellows-Pageau-Bailey
Martin-Cizikas-Soshnikov

Wahlstrom and Johnston would be the extras and Clutterbuck remains on IR.

Andrew Gross @AGrossNewsday
now
Ilya Sorokin first goalie off for #Isles.

Let's Go Isles

Bellows kept himself in the mix with strong finish to preseason...maybe there's some hope for him yet!

Can't help but look at that first line and think that it needs more punch, but maybe it just needs Barzal to shine and elevate the other two the way Tavares elevated Moulson and Okposo.

Cool that Soshnikov gets the nod to fill in for Clutterbuck. He looked like he had a little bit of explosiveness to his game.

I'm not glowingly optimistic for this season, but right now at game one, anything's possible. Imagine if they just come out flying and then never look back all season.

If Soshnikov plays like he did in preseason then he's going to force someone out of the lineup, I like what I've seen so far

Also, Gross said Sorokin was off first but Kurz just tweeted that Varly was first off....so not sure what's going on there

edit: It's Sorokin

Kevin Kurz @KKurzNHL

Clutterbuck, Wahlstrom, Aho and Johnston appear to be tonight's scratches.

Sorokin in net (correcting earlier tweet)

I think JT had more to work with in terms of Moulson and KO UIF and JT was drafted 1st overall. Those two were not the best wings but they did not have to worry about keeping up with JT in terms of skating. Parise or Palms will not scare a lot of teams at this point.

I hope Soshnikov has a nice run.

I'm very confident in the goalies and D. The offense like always is a concern.

I think Brock's line is the first line IMO.. and Barzal is line 2.

It was a magical bonding experience.

Was really hoping he’d challenge someone to a fight. Dude was damn near mad enough.

100%. That’s why I said, “they cut his balls off before he even got going here” when I saw him get fined. Absolute joke.
